Dear Adult Literacy Organiser,
Clare Family Learning Project will deliver a two day training ‘Delivering Family Learning Programmes – a practical approach’ in the Further Education & Training Centre, Clonroad, Ennis, Co. Clare starting on Monday 15th February, 2016.
Topics covered will include:
- Theory and research
- Recruitment, programme development
Programme themes
- Increasing parental understanding of how school works at primary and second level
- Providing fun learning opportunities based around home and family to encourage positive attitudes and further participation in learning
- Explaining curriculum content and helping parents identify how they can help with homework and study skills
- Promoting greater engagement with books and stories at all ages.
- Working in partnership
- Evaluation and progression.
- International dimension: Norwegian participant will be attending.
We have lots of resources and the training will facilitate sharing of ideas. Any tutors or other staff who would like to upskill are especially welcome.
Course fee for this two day event is €100 (includes lunch).

Directions to LCETB Further Education & Training Centre, Clonroad, Ennis.
From Limerick or Galway side take Exit 13 off bypass.
Turn left into Ennis as you come up to Tulla Road from bypass.
Follow Tulla Road into centre of Ennis, under railway bridge,
Straight on at mini roundabout at Kodak/French wine shop (on right side of road)
Straight on at next mini roundabout (junction with New Road)
Straight on at next mini roundabout (junction with Francis Street, Tesco, Adli and Pennys are in on road to right)
You are now on Clonroad. Slow down. You should see Dunnes Stores car park far in on right.
Go just past the pedestrian crossing with lights and take immediate left up hill.
LCETB Further Education and Training Centre is the first building on the left.
From Bus or Train Station (both in same place) to Further Education & Training Centre.
Come out onto Quin Road from Station, turn left. At mini roundabout turn right onto Clonroad.
The Further Education & Training Centre is on the first road to the right, about 1km in total from the train station. It is the first building on the left as you enter the business park up a small hill from Clonroad.

- Go through the traffic lights at crossroads, then as you pass Holy Family primary school on right,

- The entrance to the hotel is on the right side of the road just after the entrance to the primary school and opposite the Cathedral.

- From Limerick side take Exit 13 off bypass.
- Turn left into Ennis as you come up to Tulla Road from bypass.
- Follow Tulla Road into centre of Ennis, under railway bridge,
- Straight on at mini roundabout at Kodak/French wine shop(on right side of road)
- Take right at next mini roundabout (junction with New Road), along this road is fire station, end of road is court house, Turn left. Stay in outside lane to turn right at next traffic lights. Hostel is in front of you. Park across the road using parking discs.
All above venues are in town and easy to get to training.
- Auburn Lodge Hotel is on the old Gort Road, it has a swimming pool but is out of town.
- Ashford Boutique Hotel 1 Mill Road, Ennis is across town.
